Liverpool Wallop Bournemouth 4-0
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, will be feeling proud of his team after a 4-0 win over Bournemouth secured their place at the top of the English Premier League on Sunday, 21 January.
The two teams went head-to-head at Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth, England with the onset of Storm Isha creating difficult conditions for both the players and the fans.
A vicious first half ended in a scoreless stalemate, with Klopp taking the break to reconsider his strategy.
After a quick reshuffle of players, the match resumed, and Reds forward, Darwin Núñez, claimed the first point for his side four minutes into the second half. Núñez’s teammate, striker Diogo Jota, earned the second point for the visitor’s side at the 70-minute mark with help from Cody Gakpo.
The home side picked up the pressure for the remainder of the match but nine minutes later, Jota claimed the third point for his team. Núñez secured the final point for his side three minutes into stoppage time, bringing the scoreboard to 4-0.
“It was obvious we needed to change something. We did and it worked much better. Everything was better,” Klopp said during the post-match press conference, before adding: “We put them really under pressure and we scored some beautiful goals.”
